The Babyzen YOYO arrived on the scene in 2012 and the pushchair world has never looked back. The YOYO was the first evolutionary ultra-compact stroller catering specifically to the needs of on-the-go families, and eight years later, the buggy got itself an upgrade, as the Babyzen YOYO2 arrived, rocking a stylish, modern look.
The Babyzen YOYO was the first buggy with a fold compact enough to fit into an aeroplane overhead compartment. This was a game changer for parents and inspiration for Babyzen’s competitors. And while the USP of the YOYO2 remains unchanged, there have been a few key updates, allowing families to enjoy even more in terms of practicality and comfort.
Assembling the YOYO2
The YOYO2 arrives with a little assembling to do. The frame pulls out of the box with the wheels and handlebars attached, and once you’ve flipped the lever to open out the buggy you’re ready to add your colour pack seat onto the stroller. If you follow the instructions or watch this super quick vid, it’s all fairly simple, so you can be up and running within a few minutes.
First impressions
The Babyzen YOYO2 is a stylishly simple pushchair. There’s an under-seat basket with ample space for essentials or shopping, and a reasonably sized hood with a peephole to shelter your baby from the elements. There’s a new faux leather handlebar to give the buggy a more premium feel, and for extra security, there’s a tether strap to attach to your wrist. So what else is new?

From birth to toddler with the YOYO2 Newborn pack
The YOYO2 is designed to be versatile. From birth, you can equip your BABYZEN YOYO2 with the lie-flat, parent-facing 0+ newborn pack to keep your baby safe and sound. The 0+ newborn pack has been designed to give your baby maximum comfort, thanks to its soft nest pad and head support. During the colder weather, your baby will stay warm under the wonderfully cosy and soft to the touch removable white sherpa fleece foot cover. The YOYO2 0+ newborn version folds and unfolds with one hand, in a blink of an eye, and can be folded in one piece and taken on board a plane as hand luggage or will easily fit in a boot of the smallest car, all thanks to its compact size.
And for older babies and toddlers, the YOYO2 offers a comfy world-facing seat unit. In fact, in less than 15 minutes, you can switch your YOYO 0+ newborn pack to the 6+ colour pack to transform the parent-facing pushchair into a forward-facing stroller that will take your child from 6 months up to 4 years of age.
Toddlerproof
The updated Babyzen YOYO 2 is just as lightweight and compact as its predecessor but has a reinforced chassis certified to carry children up to 22kg. That’s a whopping 4 kg more than the original YOYO, so you’ve got a ride that will see you through.
The best urban pushchair
The YOYO2’s suspension has been designed and optimised for better bounce and cushioning, while the pushchair’s front swivel wheels can navigate tricky pavements offering a tight turning circle, so you can zip about town with ease.
The pushchair offers little passengers a padded, comfy and spacious seat from which to view the world, secure in their 5-point harness, which has been updated to be softer and more flexible.
Comfy ride from birth to 3 years
Testing out the YOYO2 with my hefty three-year-old (who I’ll admit, is coming to the end of his buggy riding days), the YOYO2 felt sturdy and easy to manoeuvre around the high street and in busy supermarket aisles. My little one seemed comfortable in his seat, with plenty of legroom, and the harness was a good fit. While he’s sadly a bit beyond day naps now, the pushchair’s multiple recline options are great for young kids that need those all-important naps on the go. The seat’s position is altered by a strap at the back of the buggy, but it’s worth noting that there’s no lie-flat position available.
Unlike some lightweight travel strollers that struggle with kerbs and uneven pavements, the YOYO2 won’t begin to squeak and rattle after a few months. Engineered with aluminum alloy, stainless steel and fibre-glass reinforced technical plastics, it’s sturdy, but lightweight, so pushing it won’t feel like a workout. The YOYO2 is not, however, a pushchair designed for off-road, and neither does it purport to be. It handles grass pretty well, making trips to the park a breeze, but it’s not built for terrains harsher than this.
The original compact stroller
For city dwellers and holidaymakers, the YOYO2 will go pretty much everywhere with you, thanks to the stroller’s unique folding mechanism. The ultra-compact YOYO2 stroller folds and unfolds in seconds. The pushchair fits in the YOYO2 backpack so you can carry it over your shoulder, store it neatly in your boot or your hallway. In fact, it tucks away pretty much anywhere!
A great choice for urban parents, the YOYO2 is an easy-to-use pushchair, which is essential when you’re on the go with your baby. There’s nothing difficult or fiddly about it. Whether you’re navigating the underground, catching a bus, or jumping in a taxi at a moment’s notice, the YOYO2 won’t slow you down. And of course, it’s the perfect travel companion for weekend getaways and holidays further afield.
