To celebrate Roald Dahl Day we thought we’d share some of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Recipes, that despite the title, sound honestly quite splendiferous! They’re all inspired by the whimsical world of Willy Wonka and his magical chocolate factory. And what’s more, tonies has the ultimate soundtrack to your ‘Dahl Day, with the launch of their new Tonie, The Witches.
Liquid Chocolate Mixed by Waterfall
Serves 1
You will need:
- an adult to help you
- rolling pin
- saucepan
- whisk
- 100g milk chocolate
- 100ml milk
- Cadbury’s Flake or similar chocolate bar
What you need to do:
- While the chocolate is still in its packaging, batter it with a rolling pin
- Put the chocolate bits into a saucepan and add the milk. Stir over a low heat until all the chocolate is melted
- Whisk the mixture to make it frothy and then pour it into the biggest mug you can find
- Use the Flake as a stirrer
Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight for your ice cream sundae…
You will need:
- an adult to help you
- a saucepan
- a large bowl of your favourite ice cream ready in the fridge
- 60g dark chocolate
- 1 Cadbury’s Crunchie or similar chocolate bar
- 60g butter
- 80g dark brown sugar
- 150ml double cream
- 8 marshmallows
What you need to do:
- Break the chocolate and the Crunchie into large chunks and set to one side
- In a saucepan, over a low heat, melt together the butter, sugar and cream
- Stir until all the sugar is dissolved and then turn the heat up and continue stirring for 10 minutes. Be careful, as it gets very hot and can splutter. Use a very long wooden spoon or a tall adult with a long arm
- Turn the heat down again, and get your bowl of ice-cream from the fridge
- Put the marshmallows, chocolate and Crunchie into the saucepan, stir around once and pour over your ice-cream
- You can keep the leftover sauce in the fridge and reheat it in a microwave
Willy Wonka’s Fizzy Lifting Drink
Serves 1
You will need:
- an adult to help you
- cream soda
- vanilla ice cream
What you need to do:
- Close all the doors so that you don’t end up on the moonPour cream soda into a glass
- Top with a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream
- Drink
- Burp
